Council-funded police officers tackled three gun-related crimes in Barking and Dagenham over the last six months of last year.

The crimes included the case of a 17-year-old boy who was shot in both legs at Heath Park Estate in Dagenham.

Another involved the arrest of a man for “possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life” in Marks Gate.

The crimes are included in a presentation senior Metropolitan Police officers are set to give at Barking and Dagenham Council this week.

The presentation says these involved officers from its local authority funded crime and enforcement taskforce.

They include the case of a boy shot in his legs in Braintree Road “by a group of young males” in September. The presentation says officers “pursued a suspect vehicle” and arrested three people.

In a separate incident, “reports of gunshots in Marks Gate led to a police pursuit of a group of individuals”.

The presentation states: “One male was arrested for possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and the weapon was recovered.”

Another case was a man who was robbed of his e-bike. The presentation says the man “gave up details of a suspect who he had arranged to meet up with to sell his bike to”.

It adds: “The male was located and arrested for conspiracy to commit armed robbery.”

Senior Metropolitan Police officers are set to deliver the presentation to councillors on the overview and scrutiny committee meeting this Wednesday (21st).
