The trampoline park and soft play areas at Barking Sporthouse will be fully refurbished and upgraded this spring thanks to a £1.3m investment.

The works will be completed in two phases, with a refurbished soft play opening later this month and an all-new multi-zone activity area to replace the trampoline park will open in April.

The new activity area will include a “strike challenge zone, inflatable zone and interactive sports pitch, designed to spark imagination, movement and adventure, enabling children of all ages to run, jump and challenge themselves”.

Some of the existing trampolines will be retained but with brand new beds, springs and padding.

The new soft play area is being designed especially for children under three years and will be created within the current café space.

The existing soft play area for children under six will also be “enhanced with immersive sensory elements, supporting early development while keeping playtime fun and engaging”.

The café will also now offer drinks and snacks all day.

Fatima El Faddali, general manager at Barking Sporthouse, said: “This exciting refurbishment marks the start of a fresh chapter for Barking Sporthouse. It is the biggest investment the centre has seen in over ten years and represents a major step forward in our long-term strategy to attract and support families.

“The new facilities will be the only offer of their kind in Barking and Dagenham, giving local children and families access to high-quality, modern activity spaces right on their doorstep.”

Barking Sporthouse is run by charitable social enterprise GLL, under its brand name Better.
