Beam Park Station will help unlock construction of 1,500 homes as part of the wider redevelopment of the area

A local MP has welcomed the Labour government’s commitment to delivering a new railway station at Beam Park.
Although set to be situated just outside the borough boundary, the station will serve the thousands of new residents occupying homes under construction across the adjacent Dagenham Green and Beam Park developments, which span both Barking and Dagenham and Havering boroughs.
It will be built on the existing railway line into Fenchurch Street, while also connecting to the seaside at Southend.
Dagenham and Rainham MP Margaret Mullane credits pressure from the local community alongside her own lobbying efforts with finally securing a guarantee from the government that the station will be built.
The Labour MP also said that the station’s go-ahead would now allow 1,500 homes on the Beam Park development to be built.
“I know from my meetings with the rail minister, London deputy mayor for transport and the GLA [Greater London Authority] that significant progress has been made to deliver the station at Beam Park,” Mullane explained.
“From my work on this to undo the block put on the station by the previous government and from the firm assurances given to me, the promise given to residents will be honoured and the much needed station will happen.
“The station will not just serve the residents of the new homes, it will also unlock massive investment in new businesses and jobs for our area.”
